Family Law
We accept Legal Aid Ontario certificates at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford and in Goderich. Family law cases involve issues such as decision-making responsibility, parenting time, child support, and/or spousal support.
Child Protection Law
We accept Legal Aid Ontario certificates in child protection cases at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford and in Goderich. Child protection cases are those initiated against a parent or parents by the Huron-Perth Children’s Aid Society.
Criminal Law / Youth Criminal Law
We accept Legal Aid Ontario certificates in criminal law cases at the Ontario Court of Justice at the courts in Stratford and Goderich. We do not accept cases where a charge includes domestic violence due to providing legal services to a women’s shelter.
At this time, we are only accepting cases in Family Law, Child Protection Law, and Criminal Law, and only where clients have a Legal Aid Ontario certificate. The only exception is in Collaborative Family Law (see below).
Collaborative Family Law
We offer legal services in a special area of family law called Collaborative Family Law (also known as Collaborative Divorce). We do not require clients to have a Legal Aid Ontario certificate and we do not require a retainer (that is, a large financial deposit in advance) for Collaborative Family Law cases. We have made this exception for Collaborative Family Law because of its benefits as a process for our clients to address the legal and other issues from their separation in a respectful way.
